I concur wholeheartedly. UMC is trading at $8.85 currently, but it was at $14 throughout the 90's and got up to 50 last yr. If AMD has enough shares, it could have a lot of influence on getting contracts, and give them a lot of influence with the Tiwanese.

Well, UMC stock certainly has a higher buy rating than AMD stock ;-).

One thing I really don't understand about the report is the "20-30% stake". How on earth can AMD afford 20% of a $22 Billion company?
