Lot's of options delayed open [certainly till the stocks opened] and markets were very wide... XMI virtually insured it's demise by the terrible markets they made ripping everyone off. Some of the big players yanked their people out of the pits while they tried to figure out if they were in business. In individual equities if you used limit orders you certainly shouldn't have had a problem once things opened... in our case [MO, K, BOL, USW, others] you wanted to open the options ASAP so the paper didn't keep adding up... you're liability was quite large screwing up orders.
