JTT:

Thanks for the memorabilia. Yep, it was the boring 30s.

All the autos were usually black. A can of Admiral Maine sardines in oil, 3 1/4 oz. cost 8c. A 1 lb. can of Salmon cost 15c at one point in time, and every home had tel.party lines which caused some ill will occasionally. A "milk nickel" was a Eskimo pie type that only cost a nickle. Moms would go across the road to borrow a cup of sugar now and then. All the guys I knew carried a bag of marbles and had rabid contests with them and tops thrown in a circle during school recess. Paper milk bottle caps were collected and used to throw up against the wall to beat the other guys (like horseshoes). The best shooters really came away with "all the marbles" or can you "top this?"
