you just won't quit with the anecdotes will you. for crying out loud, i can answer every single one of your points if i must, but i don't want to waste time going down this silly path of he said she said anecdotes, which has nothing to do with science. do you think i can't go to all sorts of low-carb sites on the net and find testimonials claiming more success on the atkins diet than zone?

do you really want to reduce the discussion to, "i can find 10 more people that like zone than like atkins?" gimme a frickin break. stop wasting my time.

there could be any number of reasons why someone wasn't as successful on a diet as they liked. the number one reason why is most dumbshits don't know how to follow it properly. they gloss over the details and catch just a few highlights. i could spend all day giving you reasons why he might have liked switching over to the zone.

for one thing, after you have pumped large amounts of carbohydrates into your body for decades and glucose is used as the primary fuel source, your body becomes accustomed to that diet and tries to adapt to it as best as possible. when you switch over to a low-carb way of eating, using fat as your primary fuel source, it takes a few weeks for your body to build up the necessary enzymes needed to mobilize fat efficiently as your primary fuel. also, after poisoning your body with toxic sugar and refined carbs year after year, you are not unlike a drug addict. sugar is a drug. same story with caffeine. most people that go on atkins eat lots of sugar and caffeine, and when they start his diet they start detoxifying their system. of course as this happens, they feel bad, not unlike a heroin addict. a heroin addict who suddenly stops taking heroin begins to feel worse than when he was taking the toxin. of course as he detoxifies his system, eventually he feels much better not taking the drug. well the same thing happens with low-carb diets. you may feel crappy for a few days because your body is used to getting that caffeine or sugar habit. after a few days, most low-carb dieters start noticing dramatic improvements in well-being.

as for the particular anecdote you cited it is pointless to speculate. who knows how well he followed either diet. i didn't waste my time following the link, so did he say how long he was on atkins before he switched? there have been scientific studies done which have tested people for aerobic endurance on low-carb diets. you know what they found? that after immediately starting a low-carb diet there is a slight drop off in aerobic endurance while your body is adapting to switching over to a fat mobilizing system rather than a glucose based one. it takes a few weeks for the necessary enzymes to reach peak efficiency. anyway the studies showed that on average a few weeks after the shift had taken place, aerobic endurance made a significant improvement over the levels previous to the low-carb diet. aerobic endurance actually increased, after a slight drop-off at first.

this was a scientific study, not some anecdote from some bozo on a message board. some people have food allergies, and that may cause them to feel poorly and could make a person prefer atkins or the zone more, because when you change your diet you are selecting different foods. there are countless variables that can affect the outcome, and these anecdotes don't take all of them into account. of course i have come across just as many anecdotes as you have where people prefer the atkins diet, EVEN athletes or people who need aerobic endurance.

i'm just not going to waste my time looking them all up for you when they won't prove a thing. you can go find them yourself. if in my reading i happen to find one i will do you the favor and send it to you. but i aint going to devote time to satisfying your need for a contest where we find who has the most devotees.

i prefer to stick to facts and science, not stories.
