He won with 58 percent of the vote, not exactly a close race, garnered 62 percent in 1998, and was virtually unopposed in 2000 winning with over 65 percent. Not a bad record for a Republican <g>. What the hell do you mean by "vehement opposition", nasty opposition? His opponent wasn't very competitive.
