Way to go Bush!

Spending 48billion on defense is a lot better than giving 48billion to the lazy that votes for the politicians that keeps the gravy train coming!

This is it........this is where the sh*t hits the fan.

Bush Proposes $48 Billion Defense Increase

$48bil is less then 2.5% of Federal government spending, and practically a rounding error compared to the US GDP. You can argue that the defense spending is wasteful, unneeded, even slightly harmful, but its ridiculous to claim that it will cause any fans to get hit...

As a percentage of GDP or even just adjusted for inflation defense spending will still be well down from its peak and the size of US forces is likely to continue to shrink even with this increase and its likely that the increase will be reduced by Congress. The increase is small compared to the increase in non defense programs that has been occurring each year for awhile so if $48bil caused the fan to be impacted we would already be in desperate straights.
