KLA-Tencor sees orders up sequentially in March qtr

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan 23 (Reuters) - Semiconductor test and equipment maker KLA-Tencor Corp.(NasdaqNM:KLAC - news) believes the worst of the business slowdown is over and expects orders in the current quarter to rise from the previous one, its chief executive said on Wednesday.

``We believe that the worst of this downturn is behind us,'' Ken Schroeder, the CEO, told investors in a conference call after releasing results for the fiscal second quarter, which ended in December.

Strong holiday sales and personal computer sales indicated that customers' business could improve, he said.

``For our March quarter, we expect a modest sequential increase in our order pattern,'' he said.

The Siebel numbers looks particularly strong, and one of the few companies with solid q over q and Y over Y revenue growth. Very good looking financials at first blush. A growth company that is still growing!
