we should just have negotiated a peace on December 8th. Well we could have had peace with Japan then. All that we would have had to have done was agree to give Japan oil and whatever else they wanted to use to kill the Chinese and give them control over the Philippines and most of the Western Pacific, while ignoring the fact that they had just sunk a bunch of our ships and killed over two thousand Americans. Of course if our reaction was that week (basically to roll over and become Japan's bitch) then it would have encouraged latter attacks or attempts at intimidation). Of course I know you were not serious, but some people actually do think the way to peace is weakness. Tim
