Joan, it is true that *home ownership is a lifestyle that costs one money.* But isn't it also true that (1) a home of some sort is necessary and is usually never free, (2) that one can throw money down the drain as easily by renting as owning, and if you rent, you have nothing to sell to recoup even a dime when it's time to depart this world, and (3) you said you still own a home after 40 years? Why on earth haven't you moved to a cheaper rental?
