Some trin stuff. The point seems to be that this is the most intense 10 day period of selling in the last 60 years. Are they holding it up or what?

i agree it's possible, but imo the jury on that is still out. i'm not so sure that a trip back to the lower range is assured, or that the break-out won't come after a brief pause. note that the gold/silver shares have by and large ignored recent PoG and silver weakness, usually a sign that more upside is coming. also, JSE and Oz listed gold shares keep hitting new highs, or remain close to same.
that said, i'm not ruling out your scenario either...i remember the early '86 downside fake-out just before things really started rocking, and so far we're building a fractal of the '85 - '86 bottom in the PoG...could be that the shares also follow the precedent.
generally, not as a short term trader comment, but as an investor comment, i think it's a bull market, and the risk is being out of it, not being in it.
