Activision`s Income Rises Sharply And Raises 2002 And 2003 Guidance - Update [ATVI]

1/23/02 5:09:52 PM After the close Activision, Inc. (ATVI) reported net revenues for the third quarter increased by 40% to $371.3 million from a year ago. Net income for the quarter increased by 91% to $39.1 million or $0.66 per diluted share, which easily beat street estimates by 8 cents.

More importantly Activision is increasing its fiscal year 2002 earnings per share guidance from $0.73 to $0.82, and also raising 2003 revenue guidance from $810 million to $845 million and its earnings per share guidance from $0.85 to $0.94.

Robert A. Kotick, Chairman and CEO of Activision, said "We remain confident about the remainder of the year and believe that our strong balance sheet and cash position provide us with the financial flexibility to take advantage of the market growth opportunities ahead". He added "With the impending launches of Xbox and GameCube internationally, we expect that fiscal 2003 will be another record year".

Ahead of the earnings the stock gained 40 cents and closed at $24.80 on average volume, and in after hours trading the stock is up sharply to $27.05.
