MANHASSET, N.Y. — Nokia Networks has chosen MontaVista Software Inc. to help develop its all-Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure.

MontaVista's Linux operating system currently has more than 480 host-target combinations across a variety of embedded applications, providing what the company calls a standard platform for designs in the communications infrastructure, networking, consumer electronics, instrumentation and control.

The company's Linux High Availability Framework targets applications with heavy I/O loads, such as central office switching equipment, service provider systems, and other communications infrastructure applications.

Note: Intel participated - with 3 other companies - in a $23 Million investment in MontaVista !!
