It never did hold up in the US retail market in the first place.

My guess is that Intel's Northwood production has unleashed a flood of Pentium 4's - and the availability of these CPUs to white box manufacturers has ended their need to use any AthyWipey chips.

Hence, AMD has been slashing prices daily just to try to slow down the defection of their customer base - but defect they will !!

AMD is back to competing on price.

AMD CPUs - they don't work so well - but they're cheap again !
