Dan,

AMD understood that moving from .25 to .13 during the past 2 years reduced that number of FABs required, and that it should result in chips being less expensive.

Intel has, or is, made, or making, that conversion. In addition, Intel is building additional fab which should add capacity.

Intel has locked itself into a high cost structure, AMD hasn't. AMD is in a great position to lower prices, Intel isn't. It's the perfect time for AMD to lower prices and gain market share, too bad for Intel.

I'm not sure why you continue to compare "cost structure". Intel is profitable; AMD is not. I don't understand how you can believe that lower ASPs will cause AMD to become profitable.

Lower ASPs will cause AMD to loose more money and at a faster pace....

Ban Ban Blow Boy Dan - Re: "It's the perfect time for AMD to lower prices and gain market share"

AMD is in a panic to prevent the FURTER LOSS of market share.

As you note, AMD lost 2 % market share last quarter and about 0.7 - 1% the prior quarter.

The trend is obvious.
