8:40AM: The pre-market tone remains mixed. S&P futures at 1133, trade even with fair value while the Nasdaq 100 pre-market indicator is lower by 10.7 points. On the economic front, Existing Home Sales will be released at 10:00 ET. The market is looking for a slight decline to a 5.18 million sales pace for December from 5.21 million in November. Yet even with a slight decline, sales for 2001 would represent an all-time record, underscoring the resilience of the housing sector.
