Jpe, > But AMD is not Kmart or Enron, which is what some people are trying to imply.

Touche (I saw some posters trying to compare Intel with Enron last week). New moniker for AMD on the Yahoo board: AMDron.

Joe, Re: "I never claimed that AMD is IBM or GE. I fully expect some of the ratio's would be much worse. But AMD is not Kmart or Enron, which is what some people are trying to imply."

It is some people's desire to make more of an issue out of things than they deserve. I don't believe AMD is a KMart, and it's certainly not an Enron. However, they are not coming into this year nearly as prepared as Intel. My prediction for this year is that Intel's capital spending will allow it to grow with the market, while AMD will grow slower, or not at all. Intel will gain market share by virtue of a larger market, not from taking share from AMD. This may cause AMD to drop ASPs to the point where they post continued losses, but these losses will be small, and close to break-even. Next year may be different, depending on how AMD can deliver with SOI and K8. I'm skeptical, but what the heck do I know.
