Gee, why don't we just issue *everyone* a welfare check, social security (at the same rate), medicaid, and medicare, because, it's too administratively costly to figure out *REAL NEED* from *NON NEED*!

That has to be THE most idiotic things I've ever seen a Dashle supporter come up with. And there have been some real doozies.

There's actually quite a bit of difference. It's scale of the service provided and the administrative cost to apply it to the population. Medicare health costs are substantially higher than the prescription costs and there is an automatical filter, due to age that limits the overhead.

Can't you think more than one level deep?

Of course, the demolibs could just come out and say what they really want, which is to nationalize the drug companies and the health care industry (doctors included).

But that isn't currently politically possible, so they have to just chip away a little bit at a time, like they have for so long, with very successful results.

One hallmark of success in achievement of socialists' goals has been incrementalism, rather than revolution. Put another way, a boa constrictor appears innocuous to its prey until it's too late.
