So AAII IS individual investors. Hmmm- that's different then. Wonder what those numbers looked like during the initial run up out of the 73-74 cyclical bear?

Just read over your discussion on the AAII. You noted that it was indicating bullish extremes. I believe you probably meant the Investors Intelligence instead. I just checked Barron's as of Jan 21 and I get these numbers. AAII Index Last Week/2 Weeks Ago/3 Weeks Ago Bullish 29.5% 54.8% 51.1% Bearish 29.5 21.9 24.4 Neutral 41.0 23.3 24 Seems to have turned bearish very quickly as the number of bulls went down by 1/2. One third bullish seems to be consistent with the lowrisk.com numbers that were noted in one of the posts. However, the Investors Intelligence number (I believe newsletter writerss) still show too much bullishness. Investors Intelligence last week/2 weeks ago/3 weeks ago Bulls 51.6% 52.6% 49.0% Bears 24.7 22.7 27.5 Correction 23.7 24.7 23.5 Here is a third one: Bullishness certainly decreased in this one too. Market Vane Bullish Consensus 48% 52% 54% --------------------------------------------------- The AAII had an incredible drop in bullish sentiment last week. I would be very interested in seeing what it looks like on Monday. Nasdaq short interest for January will also be released by then.
