How can these results surprise you, based on the negative revisions.

Keith, they don't surprise me... having come to this conclusion after the 9/30 quarter and sold a whack of QCOM -fortunately in the 50's.

But I always seem to be a sucker for a good story, so bought back in on Tues. at avg. price of $43.26, when it looked like 12/01 quarter was looking OK, turned out to be the case, but going forward -> glurg, glurg, glurg...

Wondering if I can pay some bills with pro-forma revenues.

No big write-offs this Q:

Reported [GAAP] income before taxes was $218 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2002 compared to a loss before taxes of $747 million in the year ago quarter..

That's a bottom line (before taxes) improvement of almost $1 billion from the year ago Q. What the heck are people complaining about? <g>
