PMC-Sierra sees 1st-qtr revenues up from 4th qtr
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Communications chipmaker PMC-Sierra Inc. (NasdaqNM:PMCS - news) said on Thursday it sees first-quarter revenues rising 5 percent to 15 percent from the $47.2 million it reported in the fourth quarter.

However, ``it is fair to say that we expect the current choppy market to continue into Q2,'' said PMC-Sierra Chief Financial Officer John Sullivan on a conference call to discuss the company's fourth-quarter results.

The company expects its loss-per-share on a pro forma basis to narrow by 2 cents to 3 cents in the first quarter from the fourth quarter's pro forma loss of 15 cents, Sullivan said.

Orders for the company's products improved in November and December and even more in January, Chief Executive Bob Bailey said on the call.

``For the first time in a year we feel like PMC-Sierra's revenues have stabilized,'' Bailey said.
