17:47 ET After Hours Indications : The late session tone is mixed. S&P futures at 1133, trade one point above fair value while the Nasdaq 100 after hours indicator is lower by 12.2 points.

17:46 ET VeriSign (VRSN) 36.25 -0.46: -- Update -- CEO guides to $1.5 bln revenues and $1.00 EPS (fully taxed) for FY02 vs Multex consensus estimates of $1.55 bln and $1.23. The EPS guidance is significantly lower than current consensus; company calls it conservative and says it may be increased if the economy improves. Sees Q1 revenues of $340-345 mln vs consensus of $343.3 mln.

17:29 ET PMC-Sierra (PMCS) 23.66 +1.95: -- Update -- During their Q4 earnings conference call, co expects Q1 revs to grow 5-15% over Q4, gross margin should improve slightly, and the co expects to break even sometime in 2002. Rev seems to be stabilizing, due to: falling inventories, which should be bled off by Q2; spot shortages of new products are becoming more acute; and customer consumption rates are growing.

Softechie, want to bet about your prediction that RSAS is going to $10? I think it goes up over the next few days and perhaps as high as $16-17 before stabilizing or retracing a bit.

The SEC inquiry mentioned involves the way in which RSAS disclosed the accounting change as mentioned on yahoo. "They disclosed it in the 10Q as opposed to perhaps issuing a press release beforehand. They said the issue is not with the accounting change, but with the way it was disclosed."

This is a non-event and I feel, just like HAL at $10 on the asbestos scare (now well over $13) is something that I like to take advantage of when people panic out.

Their guidance while hardly great was decent and the stock did not deserve what it got in A.F.'s, IMHO. It's a growth company in a great niche of security with a good reputation and many new opps as described by management on the C.C.

I've been wrong before, so we'll see. Again, like we say on my thread. It's a calculated risk.
