Art, I was thinking along those lines yesterday and wondering if CDMA as a percentage of total handset sales was growing and by how much each year. Haven't looked into it yet.
Disappointed in the 2nd qtr downward guidance. 1x ramping up and it seems it's just replacing IS95a sales and is not causing an increase in sales. Till something causes cdma to start growing/increasing faster then the overall handset market growth rate then I think Q's stock price goes nowhere.
Like it or not we need new markets to increase the # of asics sold and wcdma is the biggest new market.
I think we have been putting too much hope into 1X and 1XEV, if they just go into existing markets they will mainly just be a substitute for an earlier version of cdma and will not result in any large increase in units.

One positive comment was that KDDI sold 100,000 units vs docomo's 10,000 units. More news like that and I'll start thinking differently.

100 patiently waiting

Would it be too optimistic to assume that something like 70 million of those will use CDMA technology (i.e., about 16 percent)?

Art, this is the first time I've seen you be too PESSIMISTIC!
