BWAC, I understand what you're saying. Perhaps we just look at it in different ways. For example, today I made twice as many long trades as short ones, and when AMAT begins the long cycle uptrend, I expect to be averaging more long trades than short trades along the way. While it's true that I have been short most of the past year, I can assure you that I'll be playing more to the long side when I feel the tides have turned. In other words, I'm not ALWAYS short and I certainly don't consider other holdings when trading, but that's just me. Perhaps it would be a significant influence on another trader. Regards.

It also provides a clearer understanding of the public *perception* of risk. A high-wire act is impressive in any case ... but an unmentioned safety net could falsely lead the kiddos to believe they can "try this at home" without one.

Not a criticism, AD ... no call to change what you do to satisfy *me*. I remain awed <g>. I think the crowd here is sophisticated and responsible enough to assess risks themselves. In fact, this conversation thread is evidence of that.
