Uncle Tom was a christ-like character. He was held up by the book as the genuine human being who loved all, black and white. Only a liberal or self-loathing black would denigrate a hero in such a way.

It is not a racist term unless you want it to be, it is a term that is among blacks and since they are all black it cannot be racist
