Second is that when existing TDMA/GSM subscribers find out that the only way they can get comparable features is by switching to a CDMA carrier, maybe they'll switch.

That's a big maybe, it depends on the marketing of the cdma carriers. We now know that marketing carries equal or greater weight than technology. I have long felt that the cdma camp has under promoted the advantages of cdma to the public. We know what they are but go ask Joe six pack in the street and they have no idea. A "1X INSIDE" campaign wouldn't hurt.

Third is the overall operating cost differences between 1X and GSM/GPRS and the relative ease with which CDMA carriers can upgrade to provide additional services

That does nothing to attract subscribers unless they price that cost advantage into what they charge for airtime.
So far no appreciable difference. If they would drop prices to a point where the TDMA/GSM cabal could not compete, then the CDMA camp could start stealing market share. But as of yet I have seen no sign of that. I've been waiting and waiting for that to happen.
