I agree, but I think you misunderstand how it operates. It doesn't operate by just printing money, although that is part of the process.

All loans entail risk, but good loans are low risk. Believe it or not, for many Americans, repaying your debts is not just good business, but a matter of morality and character.

In Afghanistan, a couple of weeks ago, Mullah Omar went to the biggest (only?) bank and told them that it was about to be bombed, and then he cleaned out all the money and rode off on a motorcycle.

They have a long, long way to go until loans in Afghanistan qualify as low risk.
