Joe, Re : "I have to say that I admire Intel's ability to swallow their pride, and do the opposite of what they preached, when market dictates it."

They have demonstrated that many times. They make their share of mistakes, but they use their resources and desire/ability to swallow their pride to get out of trouble and do what is best for the shareholder (something JS could learn from).

Given that there are very few CPU makers left in the server space, AMD and Intel can benefit big time (AMD perhaps more than Intel) if x86-64 takes off.

Maui.

RE:"I have to say that I admire Intel's ability to swallow their pride, and do the opposite of what they preached, when market dictates it. It has been good for the shareholders, since the consequences of not making U-turns would have been very costly."

Intel is very good at scramblin'. Unfortunately, AMD is poor at capitalizing.
