It's not the lead in time that is most important in X86-64 but archetecure. It is the fact that Intel cannot dictate the form of the next machines. They are starting a path where they may have to maintain compatibility with AMD designs.

TP, that's what's so amazing....that Intel may have to defer to the X86-64 architecture. Not that AMD's lead time is something to complain about.
