>> no, just one freakin' example to prove that the atkins diet is a peak performance diet. just one, single solitary athlete - you know, the guys and gals that thrive on peak performance and anything that will help them achieve excellence? <<

most of them are probably not overweight, and exercise so strenuously that insulin resistance and obesity has not been a problem for them. therefore they are not a target market for dr atkins. since dr sears hijacked many of dr atkins ideas, i guess he needed to cater his diet so he could get some athletes to promote it and sell more books. dr atkins isn't in the business of training athletes, so that is not his focus. dr atkins is a cardiologist and a practitioner of complementary medicine who is interested in curing obesity and chronic disease. the vast number of people are not endurance athletes, so there is no reason for dr atkins to focus all his time catering to your wishes of getting sports endorsements. people come to him to cure their illnesses and feel better.

>> no doubt the atkins diet has a strong weightloss component. there is much doubt that it supports optimal performance, though. <<

let's shift the onus on you for a change. usually it is i who provide all the details and scientific principles. why don't you go find me some proof that eating a low-carb atkins type diet somehow impedes your endurance. after all you are the one making the claim, so the burden of proof should be on you, not me.
