Press Release:
Houdini to Support HP's Intel Itanium-based Systems

Santa Monica, Calif., Jan. 22, 2002 -- Side Effects Software announced that it will support Hewlett-Packard systems built around
Intel's Itanium architecture with the Houdini family of professional 3D applications. Houdini is the 3D software of choice among
Hollywood studios and digital media artists demanding the highest-quality image output and streamlined workflow capabilities.

Side Effects Software chose to support HP's 64-bit Itanium-based systems to offer Houdini artists the option of working within
this robust new architecture on both the Linux and Windows platforms. Houdini 5, and the new $1999.00 Houdini Select will be
available for Itanium-based systems in the first half of 2002.

"Itanium-based systems offer the high bandwidth, large memory, and powerful floating-point performance that is ideal for the
type of complex projects that Houdini users in the professional marketplace are known to tackle," said Barry Crume, business
product manager for Itanium-based workstations, HP Technical Computing Division. "We are thrilled that Side Effects Software is
sharing in our vision for the future as a supporter of Itanium-based systems."
