Josh, I was very fortunate in early life to learn a valuable lesson. When I was 6 years old, in 1942, my Grandmother owned an apartment house. An old man, who was half Black, and half Cherokee, lived in the garage apartment behind the house. In the evenings I spent a lot of time talking to the old man, as there were no kids my age in the area. Although he was poorly educated, he was one of the wisest men I have ever met. Because of our talks, I learned that the color of the skin has no bearing on the worth of the man. It is what is in his heart, and mind, that counts.
