A weak January and an overpriced market strongly suggests that this will be yet another poor year for stocks in general and tech in particular, with or without economic recovery. This will be another year in which coming out ahead, even modestly, and preserving capital will be the priorities. Speculative stocks which have bounced are likely to drift back down into their private hells. 2003 is a long way away to start to discount. For telecom and related stocks we could be waiting till 2004 or 2005 for any recovery and there is a lot of air left in the bubble.
