What really struck me in Daschle's speech was the now well worn notion that tax cuts cause a bad economy. Pres. Bush has effectively countered this.

Even more effective in countering this notion, I think, is the fact that at about the time of Daschle's speech or shortly thereafter, everyone got a tax cut based raise. New tax tables went into effect the first of the year. For instance, I know a two wage earner family with a mortgage and two children at home, who managed to receive a $60 per month raise. I'll tell ya, this "small" raise is appreciated at the end of a given month. Even many blue collar Democrats can and must see that getting a tax cut raise, i.e., letting the people spend more of our collective funds in this tax cut way, can't harm the economy.

I'll say that the long term effect of letting individuals who make up this country, do more of the spending, is so positive for society and industry alike, that the phenomenon can only serve to convince us all in the end, that
