Russian Secret Services, Berezovsky, Trade Allegations

Nikolai Patrushev, Director of Russia's FSB security service says his agency holds evidence that self-exiled businessman Boris Berezovsky is involved in the financing of Chechen rebels.

He told journalists in an interview showed by several federal channels that the FSB information "concerns first of all financing of illegal armed formations and their leaders."

Patrushev added the FSB intends to pass soon the information on to its foreign partners. Several Russian media said on Friday that the security service could seek an international warrant for Berezovsky's arrest based on the accusations.

Immediately afterwards Berezovsky reiterated in an interview with NTV television his allegations that the FSB organized the 1999 apartment bombings that killed more than 300 people in Moscow and other Russian cities.

The FSB has repeatedly denied the allegations, that were cited as a reason for sending federal troops into Chechnya.

Berezovsky said he is preparing to show convincing proof of his accusations.

He said the recently closed TV6 station was preparing a film on the issue. He added that it is for this reason that TV6 was shut down earlier this week.
