I shall be there on the astral plane. If you see vapor there you won't know if it's hammer or me.

milo, I suspect that they have sampled initial prototypes and are getting feedback from various people on what is good/bad/buggy and from their introduction timetable they have time for 2-3 prototypes in the optimization process.
I know it takes a certain time in production to make volume, how much faster can a prototype part be made if a small group of wafers are started and rushed from stage to stage for fastest prototype time with 24/7 methods?

I would expect them to get feedback and find strengths and weaknesses and then they must find what they need to change to correct those flaws, + other optimizations, and then make a mask set and then make that prototype run.

Who knows what are the rock bottom times needed for these stages. I wouls assume there are places that do this quick turn around stuff for a premium price?

Another thing to keep in mind: a Hammer clone without HT is like a Ferrari without tires.

milo: AMD will also talk about its Athlon MP line of processors including the new 760MPX chipset

I wonder if they will also explain how they managed to f*ck up their USB implementation in that chipset.

(there's an easy work-around, of course: disable it and add a separate USB chip)
