In the last five years, *everyone* has put a browser on their PC and many people have added image and/or sound manipulation software of some kind. (Thereby boosting the demand for storage and bandwidth throughout the network, as well as on the PC itself.) Online shopping has gone from nothing to the point where it's a viable alternative to the mall. The DVD has essentially displaced the VCR. CD burners have become standard on new PCs. The cellphone market (and its supporting infrastructure) has exploded to such an extent that payphones are being ripped out in many places. Handheld computers can now replace paper addressbooks, date books, etc. Digital cameras have become cheap enough to practically give away, both as standalones and as additions to PCs. Built-in navigation and emergency assist features are now common in many vehicles and available on the aftermarket for the rest.

But other than that, you're right, the chip markets are pretty stagnant.
