Let's not forget that AOL bought a monster media business.

AOL was already a media business.

People could make the argument "Why did they do that? It doesn't add to their subscribers."

I believe that's a weak argument. Considering all the cross selling that can be done between the various AOL Time Warner businesses, it would be hard to imagine that it wouldn't add to their subscribers.

This is probably where I should end my participation in the discussion considering that it's been a long time since I've studied AOL's business model.
