Thanks. They were just here signing up residents for the local service. Being already unhappy with PacBell overall, and happy with AT&T LD anyway, I didn't want/need a sales pitch. But Mr. Sales-Dude insisted on pitching, part of which was, "It'll make your computer twice as fast!".

Huh? Well, I figured he was attempting to say that it would have some kind of positive impact on my dial-up connection speed, and I was kinda busy, so I wasn't into assisting his "make my computer twice as fast" comment. (Ashamedly) I'm still on a 56K, and get high-40s/low 50s, anyway. He said that they laid new digital lines, and yada... yada... twice as fast.

I was just wondering a two-part "if": If they'd been down in your area already, did you sign-up + have you noticed any real connection speed change. So, there you have it, and you answered my question. I suppose you'll be hearing from them soon. They're on a pretty aggressive push all over the PacBell area. Maybe ask 'em if you'll have a Dell 3.5-gigahertz miles-per-hour after the box install. (He said they gotta install a box in my living room for the local phone service change) <GG>
