If the whitehouse is to get outside advice in order to determine a course of action shouldn't they be allowed to protect the sources for factual answers? My understanding many people are called or call and request or input data and do not want the discussion or call made public. If you are asked an opinion and do not want to read about it in the nytimes or washington post then perhaps you will refuse to participate.

Perhaps this is nothing to hide other than respect for those corporations or people who participated in writing a proposed bill. Let congress address the bill on its merits and vote up or down on it.
