thanks Henry.
gosh that was well written and informative.
I'm really surprised the bond team at briefing made such an obvious gaffe.

Contrarian indicator for the USD??

I just received the following "spam" from one of those options brokers who somehow received obtained my email address:

"Historic Highs Are Ahead For The U.S. Dollar!

See How A $5,000.00 Investment Could Potentially Turn Into As Much As 15K To 20K Or Even More

Unlimited Profit Potential With Predetermined Risk

The Investment Opportunity Does Not Apply To The Following Countries:

United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, India, Pakistan"

I've generally found when we start to see a proliferation of such ads on the radio, TV, or through the mail, touting one options strategy or another, it's a sign that the "sell side" brokers are trying to dump positions for their clients already holding the particular instrument (dollars, gold, oil.. etc).

And the monthly USD chart look like we're putting in a top:

futures.tradingcharts.com

Personally, I think we need to see some weakness in the dollar in order to stave off that currency penalty for US exports.
