I should read it first. I don't think speculation as to the precise role and posturing of H. is surprising. I have never doubted that the nature of his position and intersts must have prompted a great number of plays of several acts.

I am not surprised that much has been covered up or "unavailable" after the war. I would like to see new evidence of American/Japanese interactions before the war's end...

I don't think Hirohito was trying to keep the war going the last couple of months. It was this information which I referred to yesterday, and it regarded meetings and some reflections of the Supreme Council. However, it is filed under some obscure and unrevealing original URL adress some where.<gg>

Right now, I would not feel it terribly meaningful to use antiquated (well, perhaps not quite the right word) information as relates (specifically) to the involvement of the Emperor, or to the reasons and pressures which may have motivated particular postures...
