showing respect where it is not warranted gets you walked over
Buddhists showing respect to Christians isn't going to make the Christians think better of the Buddhists, it might make them think Buddhists are weak, or that they are more receptive than they are
and showing "respect" to folks like Osama, will get you killed
showing respect to people who respect respect probably works
KNOW your audience, in other words
but you are merely preaching to the choir in that case

WE reap even what we did not sow. No child who is murdered or beaten sowed that, not all abused women sow what they reap, not all beaten men sow the seeds of their humiliation. To say we sow what we reap blames all victims for their pain- I think that is wrong. There are people in the world- MANY people- who are insensitive to the sowing of others, imo. You can be an idealist if you want, and disregard that, but I don't see the point.
