Yes, yes, these are not new thoughts. The problem is that while your money is sitting in gold stocks or whatever, waiting for the big runup, the timing of which has been predicted to be imminent by the goldbugs for ten years now, you are incurring the opportunity cost of not being invested in assets that produce a consistent annual return.
