try testing your mp3s with a decent pair of headphones. that's where you will notice the clear difference in quality from the original. not to say that mp3s don't have their place. i have thousands and thousands of them. have you ever heard of monkey's audio? that is a nifty and convenient lossless compression format. it shrinks the wav file to a little more than half it's original size, and there is a winamp plug-in so you can play them in real-time on your puter. with a 100 gig hard drive you could probably store and play 2500+ songs using lossless compression with perfect quality. for an audiophile like yourself it's well worth it.
