Since Athwipes crash a lot do SMP Athwipes crash 2 X as much?

How hard is it to get an AthWipe to crash once an hour instead of every 2 hours?

But the fact remains, AMD's workstation and server solutions are rock solid in terms of stability and substantially superior to Intel's in performance and they are making steady progress.

Then why are there no tier one or two OEMs doing anything with Athlons for servers? Maybe something to do with Mock's list? How long has Athlon MP been out now? At least half a year? That's a dead product in this field.

1. Heat
2. Power usage
3. Lack of decent chipsets
4. Cost of motherboards
5. Fragility of chips
6. Speed rating
7. Learn from Intel you morons!
8. Money

AMD and their supporters remind me of car junkies I used to know that insisted on owning and working on cars that were known to be temperamental and unreliable, like Austin Healys, Triumphs and Fiats. It's some kind of macho thing to be build it, tear it apart and fix it. Unfortunately for AMD, 80+% of computer users want a machine they don't have to touch, and is reliable. That's why they choose Intel. So, Compaq, for one, looked at AMD's server potential chip offerings and said no thanks and is staying all Intel. If Compaq won't give them a shake, nobody important will.
