finalizing the CD before burning it

Actually, finalizing is done after the burning. Are you sure you are doing this? It is the most common reason that a cd r does not work in a car.

But if that doesn't work, the fine folks at the CD Burning thread are probably the most knowledgeable about the nuances of burning.

I've had several sites lately tell me i could,'t proceed until cookies were enabled. They are enabled but can't gain access. This too has been going on for several weeks. I am using W98SE. My thoughts were that one of my sons games had altered a setting somewhere and I'd work it out if it affected an important site and I can't remember accessing Waterhouse or datek since. hmmm

How are you trying to create them and what OS are you using? Audio CDs follow what is knows as the "Red Book" specification and are in a different format from data CDs. You can't just take .wav files and write them to a CD, they have to be written by a program like Windows Media Player, MusicMatch, etc. which understands the Audio CD format.
