Indeed. Since Intel transitioned their products from Pentium III to Pentium 4, profits have jumped 5x. During the same period, AMD increased ASPs from $60 to $90, sold record unit volumes, and still ended up not only posting a loss, but also losing 2% market share to Intel. Sure sounds like Pentium 4 is dragging Intel ASPs into the ground, though.

Dan,

With all due respect, look @ your own company. AMD is in this "game" b/c Intel lets them.

While you state that an Intel processor is selling for a 50% premium over a comparable AMD uP, you fail to recognize the massive price declines in the uP business.
