my alias has nothing to do with my feelings about myself, I like myself a lot in fact. You sound kind of familiar, like one of the other idiots that focuses on user names and spelling instead of content.

Washington state currently has the nation's highest unemployment rate at 6.6 percent (the national rate is 5.4 percent). While it's not unusual for Washington to be among the leaders in this department (our large number of seasonal jobs in farming and forest industries generally keeps us about a percentage point above the national rate), things are probably going to get worse before they get better, says Chang Mook Sohn, state government's chief economist. He projects that Washington unemployment will rise slightly in the next year and a half, peaking at 8 percent in mid-2003.

also...

Washington’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.1 percent in December following a one-tenth of one percentage point upward revision to the November rate, Employment Security Commissioner Sylvia P. Mundy announced today. Nationally, the seasonally adjusted rate rose two-tenths of one percentage point over the month to 5.8 percent.

"Although the unemployment rate was unchanged, it is up significantly over the year," said Mundy. "The rise in the rate reflects a continuing loss of jobs. Manufacturing was weak across the board, with the job losses particularly strong for aerospace firms."

wa.gov

I heard a higher number from the mouth a Washington senator or the state gov. last week, forget which. BLS has shown that it can't be relied upon.

Washington post had an article in november that Oregon unemplyment hit 7.4% in Novemebr, I can't find the link. YOu don't have to believe it, in fact, if you believed it then you would have probably sold your house already.
