Actually. once you allow for the influence of the Jewish Lobby on US politics, it does make sense. Sort of. Think of the idiocy of our relations with Cuba and all those Cubans in Florida.

Agreed. But with Cuba you can also throw in the purely political position of being against Castro because he's a communist. But it's escaped me at this point what we might even hope to accomplish with trade sanctions against Cuba. I think it's pretty clear by now that Castro is not going to be overthrown.

Change of topic:
I saw a story in one of the European papers a few weeks ago on the investment in the Italian football team by a foreign investor [yawn]. He was acquiring a 5% stake in the team with a stated intent of increasing it to 20% in the next five years. The investor was Col. Quaddafi. [blink, blink, blink]. The article went on to say that Quaddafi also had sizable investments in Fiat and an Italian energy conglomerate, ENI. [blink, blink, blink.]

Also in the story it mentioned that at one time Quaddafi declared competitive sports declared illegal, but his little boy really liked football and made his Dad repeal the law...Dads and their sons, the relationship seems to be universal.
