All I can go on is that Hector claimed first silicon was imminent at the Q401 CC.

In my mind AMD is very cautious about lawsuits after getting caught lying a couple of years ago about "yields are fine" and "our yield problems are behind us" (as Jerry dumped his shares) then admitting yields were terrible and thus had to have been terrible when they lied to shareholders. Hectors comment was intended to be misunderstood. Just like the statement that line yields are in the 90%+ range, again intended for the gullible who would think he meant device yield. Some of our friends here showed just how effective disinformation can be. But back to the point, knowing full well that they couldn't risk an outright lie again, he didn't claim Hammer had taped out or was in fab. He just said it was imminent which doesn't exactly mean anything. I don't believe it had taped out at the time the statement was made, hence the evasive answer.
